2025 will be a year of purpose! And: two more predictions for our collective consciousness

2025 will be a year of purpose! And: two more predictions for our collective consciousness

Consciousness Work, Purpose, Spirituality | 11. December 2024

The year 2024 is drawing to a close - already! Time is running, and yet so much has happened this year for so many of us that looking back, you can't help but scratch your head. 2025 promises to continue in the same vein. So it's just the right time to take a look ahead: what might 2025 bring? I don't have the gift of prophecy, but it's fun to throw a few predictions for the development of our collective consciousness into the room, especially if you work with consciousness on a daily basis - and I have a few, from the search for purpose and authenticity to how we deal with technological progress 😉. What do you think of my predictions? Feel free to leave me a comment!

Purpose is the new glamour

The coaching and consulting scene, politics, spiritual communities and the social media world all have one thing in common: in all these areas, many people are losing their appetite for artificial glamor, show and fake worlds. In view of the many challenges in the world, many are longing for something real, something with relevance and depth. Something that benefits the community, protects nature, is sustainable or perhaps solves a specific problem, and doesn't just line the pockets of a select few. And they certainly no longer want to be fooled by consultants, so-called experts or gurus, which unfortunately has happened and still is happening all too often.

And this search for what is genuine and useful also includes the search for one's own purpose, one's task, the meaning of life, what one can contribute to this world. I know so many people around me who want nothing more than to find their purpose, to be effective, because they feel that this is the only thing that will make them truly satisfied.

This is precisely why I have launched my newsletter Advent calendar in Advent 2023 Mystical Advent Journey which is about identifying your own levers for purpose on all 7 levels of consciousness. And that's why my new claim is also called “Reclaiming Sacred Purpose”! (more on this and the deeper meaning of purpose in my blog article Reclaiming Sacred Purpose! The meaning of my new claim). But that won't be all, because in 2025 I will be working even harder to bring you the offers that will help you reclaim your individual purpose - of course, as always, with the help of your own soul.

Renewed acceptance for ancient knowledge

This point actually goes hand in hand with the first. If you are looking for depth and purpose, you are more likely to explore ideas that promise both. And that includes spiritual approaches. I think that the acceptance of spiritual approaches, concepts and methods, of ancient knowledge, will continue to grow in the coming year. In addition to the search for one's own purpose and effectiveness, there is a whole range of other reasons for this:

One of these is certainly that many people have the feeling that the world is “on fire”, that they are powerless in the face of collective change and uncertainty in the world, or that important foundations are falling away, such as the feeling that they can rely on the perceived security of systems like the healthcare system, the financial system, politics, social cohesion, peace in Europe or the functioning of the economy. When external security collapses, sooner or later the path often leads inwards - otherwise, unfortunately, it often becomes uncomfortable for us.

I do not believe that this is a coincidence, but that the unrest in the world is an expression of a change in our collective consciousness - or rather the possibility of it. And that we have the opportunity at this time to set the course for the future we envision. This also includes each of us starting to sort out what no longer works or has never worked. Not overnight, of course, and not just in 2025, but the next year is very likely to be another tug-of-war between different ideas and belief systems, both for each individual in their own lives and collectively. A tug-of-war between war and peace, between struggle and cooperation, between patriarchal structures and equal coexistence, between autocracy and democracy, between backward-looking fear and visionary hope, between pure Me-me-me thinking and joint action for the collective.

I see this as an expression of a massive collective shift in consciousness, as more and more people are going through some kind of spiritual awakening, even if many would not (yet) call it that. Or at least many are becoming more open to spiritual concepts because the soul says it's time. Not time for a new religion, we've already tried all that. It's time to reconnect with our spiritual nature, to remember this connection that has always been there and that doesn't need dogma or a guru.

And conversely, it is also somehow logical that the world will become restless if more and more people reconnect and undergo a change of consciousness, because then so many things canno longer work: If more and more people can't take it and bear it anymore, what will become of exploitative jobs and corporations, soul-crushing school systems, environmentally destructive business practices, inefficient healthcare systems, corrupt political systems, inequalities and injustices everywhere we look?

Apps as shortcuts to the Soul?

Of course, no sector can ignore technological progress, and neither can the spiritual self-help or wellness scene. Numerous apps and technologies promise help with topics such as meditation, stress management, self-discovery and mindfulness. In the age of artificial intelligence and self-optimization, it would be almost naive to think that this trend won't continue to grow in 2025. And in our stress-ridden fast-food world, we also have a huge appetite for technological quick fixes or shortcuts to the soul. As great as I think the first two developments above are, I take a rather critical view of this trend:

Firstly, a spiritual path is not actually a path of self-optimization. Many people seem to forget this point in the heat of the moment (more on this in my blog article Are you (still) falling into the optimization trap?). However, it's easy to get the impression that this is the case when some app adds yet another self-optimization item to your daily to-do list.

Furthermore, apps can easily become a distraction from the essentials - and that is our own soul. We find it difficult or have forgotten how to understand our own soul as a technology itself, as everything we need in principle. The word "soul" is all too often associated with oppressive world religions, which have misused the concept enough as an instrument of power (concepts of hell and purgatory and all that...). As an enlightened, modern, scientifically oriented person, of course, we no longer have anything to do with the soul. And unfortunately, more modern spiritual approaches are all too often pejoratively equated with some new New Age religion, while ancient knowledge has been lost or is simply no longer passed on. This is an extremely sad state of disorientation, because we have simply forgotten the soul - the most important thing of all - or see it as a relic of old, darker times. And then in our desperation we seek to replace it with technologies on the outside.

The problem is that any technology is only as good as its user anyway. This is as true for any area as it is for our spiritual development. A meditation or mindfulness app can perhaps motivate you a little more from time to time if you find a suitable one, but it can't do the meditating and being mindful for you. What is even more serious is that spirituality once again degenerates into a checklist item that you have to work through every day and which makes you feel better because you have done something “for the soul” or “to reduce stress” or for your own “personal development”. Here again, we simply have one of the many daily things that have to be done in our busy lives. Something that gives us a brief good feeling, along the lines of “oh yes, I've done that for today”. As if it were a level in a computer game.

The app could thus become an end in itself, distancing us from ourselves rather than remaining a simple tool. Because every app, every external technology is ultimately just that. A tool at best. It can't relieve us of feeling the negative emotions we need to feel. Of making the difficult decisions or taking the developmental steps we need to take. Of having the insights we need to have. Of having to deal with what life presents us with so that we can grow. Of listening inward to find out what we really need and what our purpose is, to find out who we are.

Therefore, the technology of the soul is and will always remain superior to all external technologies and apps. Therefore, the connection to our soul cannot be replaced by any apps. Nevertheless, the trend towards this - that is clear - will certainly continue to increase in 2025.
